Osama Bin Laden in a can

http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/right_wing_sounds_the_sharia_alarm_over_campbells.php?ref=fpblg

Quote:

Earlier this year, Campbell Canada introduced a line of halal-certified soups. The 15 soups comply with Islamic dietary regulations which, much like kosher regulations, prohibit certain foods and define the right way to slaughter animals.

The line, which includes low fat cream of broccoli and vegetarian vegetable, was certified by the Islamic Society of North America, which has been certifying halal foods since 1988.

To some people, that's just more evidence that Sharia is coming to North America -- this time, via the grocery store.

"M-m-good for the Islamists. Not so yummy for the rest of us," reads the blog of Scaramouche, which broke the news Tuesday, some eight months after Campbell's launched the line.

Robert Spencer, who writes Jihadwatch.org and has been saying for years that ISNA is tied to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood,* quickly echoed the alarm.

"So why is Campbell's Soup rushing to do its bidding?" Spencer wrote on Tuesday. "'M-M-Muslim Brotherhood Good?'"

Park51 opponent Pamela Geller is now calling for a boycott of Campbell's.

The Tea Party Nation is on board, too, tweeting today, " Campbell's now making Muslim approved soups. Mmmmm Mmmmm not good. No more campbells for me."

A Facebook group created just Tuesday called "Boycott Campbell Soup" already has almost 2,000 members. Members who leave messages like [sic]:

This is yet another example of just how dangerous creeping shariah is to Western Civilization, Democracy and all freedom loving peoples. There are stages to the islamization of non-islamic countries. [...] This is just another way that terrorism and it's sponsors are insinuating themselves into our culture, Terrorists are NOT freedom fighters they are murderous thugs and I will not pay money for soup or any other product that supports, aids or abetts their tactics. Hope someone puts a list out of all of Campbell's affiliates.

The blog Creeping Sharia notes that Kellogg UK has halal-certified cereals and asks, "Are their U.S. products secretly halal?"

(*ISNA was, along with the Council on American-Islamic Relations and other Muslim American organizations, named as a co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial. Many of those who claim that American imams are plotting to overthrow the Constitution with Sharia, or Islamic, law use documents from that trial to tie new organizations and mosques to violent extremists. More about that here.)

First they take our soup, then they take our rights!!!!

abandon all hope.  On a

abandon all hope.

On a side note if this is not some sort of onion story and everyone involved is totally serious im going to shoot myself. Does America really have so few problems that people there have time to waste complaining about halal soup?

Maybe it will make

Maybe it will make Campbell's soup cheaper and I can buy loads of it.

They make really good lazy cook's sauce bases.

Ugh, in some respects I'm

Ugh, in some respects I'm really not looking forward to coming back to the states in a couple months.

These paranoid right wing Christ-warrior nut jobs really seem to be loud recently.  I've long preferred Muslims in the states to these sorts of Christians- the Muslims being the minority, in my experience they are substantially less arrogant.

That's not to say I like Muslims in their own countries, though- they can be *almost* as bad as Christians when they're in the majority.  Religious people + isolation from regular exposure to other ideas and ethics = very bad recipe.

I am looking forward to more middle-eastern markets, though, where I can again purchase tahini regularly.  Chinese sesame butter tastes like burnt grainy peanut butter- barely edible- the whole country is doing it [sesame] very wrong.

For once (and ONLY time) I

For once (and probably ONLY time) I may actually not object to letting the muzzies have their canned food ONLY because Jews have had their kosher food for decades and the Hare Krishnas have their excellent vegetarian food and I'm sure other groups have their types of food.

However I am definitely against torturing and skinning and cutting open animals while they are still conscious and that's what they do with halal and kosher! Unfortunately in a free society there's not much that can be done to stop otherwise I'm sure it would've already been stopped by now.

For every time the Tea Party

For every time the Tea Party folks say they aren't bigoted hicks someone representing them at a high level says something like that.

I'm shocked anyway, shouldn't they be happy that a business is catering to an under-served market???  Hypocrites.

Everything makes more sense now that I've stopped believing.
