New virus going around

Yes, a friendly warning, new computer virus going around

XP anti-virus 2010 (not from microsoft, dont be fooled)

Self downloads, auto-detects non existent viruses, demands money for activation, and refuses to let you access the internet until (well, i vaped it before i found out)

I did a quick system restore to an hour ago, everythings solved

Happy hunting

Noted viruses are barely

Noted

viruses are barely even an annoyance for me now a days. i don't even remember the last time i got hit. plenty of good free anti virus around. I did get one a while back that amused me though. Whenever i opened mozzila a little box opened up saying, "It's not that I hate mozzilla or anything but use IE or else.... 'and would close firefox. It amused me until i zaped it.

 As I was reading this

As I was reading this thread I saw an advert for Trend Micro.  I'll warn you guys.  Don't use Trend Micro.  It is a terribly depressing anti virus.  Its so bad your better off using AVG free

I ended up getting it

I ended up getting it because some joker put a link to a page that auto-downloads it on a list of links to watch a tv show. I had to use a different computer to research how to remove it since it deactivated firefox and explorer. Installing Malwarebytes fixed the problem.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."
British General Charles Napier while in India

This sounds vaguely like Windows 7

For a few seconds, I thought that you were talking about this:
