Aside from the obvious it

Aside from the obvious it fucking charging with no chord factor... how is this better than using a chord? i can use my phone while its charging with a chord  but still i want

It doesn't use a chord

Seriously. That is enough for me. Being able to just toss things on a plate to charge them, without dealing with adapters for each item...mega plus good.

OK, where do I find a

OK, where do I find a list of the available charger thingies? I looked at the web site and I don't see one for my phone or music player. I get the same results looking at amazon.com.

Until I can plug stuff into it, I really can't use it however cool it might be.

@CC: Tell me about your music player. You don't qualify as a nerd until you use exclusively open source for everything.

For example, I use the i-river H10 20gb hard disk player with rockbox firmware and the FOSS program CDEX to rip my CDs to ogg vorbis. Everything is open source, as stated above and I rip a whole CD to 80Mb with so little compression artifacting that the audiophile/golden ear crowd cannot tell my music from the original CD.

From their website on what is included with the base unit:

-Mini USB (default receiver tip)

BlackBerry (all models that use Mini USB)

Many Motorola® phones

Many HTC® phones

Many Bluetooth® headsets

Many GPS devices

-Micro USB Tip

Many LG® phones

Many Palm® phones

-Sony PSP Tip

Playstation Portable®

Some Kodak® cameras

It should fit one of these. As for a special flashy matching case to match your unit, there may not be one available yet on this new product (which...apparently is selling out already, one day after release. The DSi case too.) however they are making new cases for popular products.

I have an ipod (free from my bank), a DSi, and cellphone that earned their places on this. If I get a PSPgo it will probably end up charging there too.

Also, apparently they are working with a few hotel chains to look into having these built into hotel rooms.

Clockcat I agree with you

Clockcat I agree with you and I know I am getting one as soon as they are available in Canada....I am a freaking technogeek at heart.....and well, I just like the new tech, however you need a batter cover plate for whatever device you wish to charge on it, and it has a USB output for charging other devices no supported at the moment, basically it's a central power charger, instead of having multiple chargers, you can do it all from one charger. I LIKE IT!!!

I will support them as soon

I will support them as soon as I can afford to, because I think their dream of tables with this kind of built in software, so that one day we will not need cables to power any appliances, is a goal worth pursuing.

I liked that too. I think this has use in bathrooms as well. Boats, public areas, outdoor areas... any area that would/could have water contact, really.

I'm surprised that this

I'm surprised that this isn't marketed more for laptops. With most handheld items, they only need charging every few days. I think it would be great to have one of those mini laptops that last over 14 hours, take it out for the whole day and then just set it back on your desk when you get home.

Been using this for a while now, and have to say it works as well if not better than advertised.

My cell and DSi are charging on it right now. It is very convenient.

I saw the *wireless* title

I saw the *wireless* title and thought that someone finally used the Tesla's high frequency energy transmission. You know, you point antenna at a lightbulb and it lights up. But nope, false alarm.

I wonder if it would work with my new Cowon iAudio 7.

The powercube comes with like 11 adapter pieces, so it can charge a lot of devices.

I'm not sure what kind of connection that uses though.

How long until you can

How long until you can charge within 6 feet of the device allowing you to use it while charging? Possible?

If you are asking if you can wirelessly charge from the base 6 feet away, the answer is no.
