Happy Canada day Alison,

Happy Canada day Alison, Thom, Latin, Jeffrick, DeludedGod, Will, Vastet... uh... am I missing anyone?

Well, regardless, Happy Canada Day. I'm off to hike up to a glacier in the rockies while it's still there (if anyone else happens to be near Banff, hey, it's free on Canada Day, so I recommend taking advantage of the situation and attempting to get eaten by a brown bear (remember: it's not an adventure until you're staring down the slavering maw of a giant monster) Eye-wink  )

Will bring back pix, assuming I don't fall into a cravass or get recruited into a fellowship to lead the One Ring to Mordor. Smiling

Quote:
"Let me say only this much to the moral issue involved: Suppose Germany had developed two bombs before we had any bombs. And suppose Germany had dropped one bomb, say, on Rochester and the other on Buffalo, and then having run out of bombs she would have lost the war. Can anyone doubt that we would then have defined the dropping of atomic bombs on cities as a war crime, and that we would have sentenced the Germans who were guilty of this crime to death at Nuremberg and hanged them?

But, again, don't misunderstand me. The only conclusion we can draw is that governments acting in a crisis are guided by questions of expediency, and moral considerations are given very little weight, and that America is no different from any other nation in this respect."

Happy Canada Day,just seems odd to me (don't get me wrong,I think that Canada is a beautiful country) I just think that it's odd to have a day set as side for celebration of a country.Just like the 4th of July, also an odd celebration an a waste of resources.Any country that has it's own anthem,is actually separating their citizen from the rest of the World. It reminds me of a line that George Carlin said,it went something like this; "I don't understand these assholes that go around proclaiming "proud to be an American,We're No.1 etc.)these nitwits don't understand, that it just a matter of circumstance, that they were born here,or any where else for that matter. And then you got these ass-wipes that hold their hand on their heart to pledge allegiance to a flag, A F<>KIN flag.

D:

Ken, how dare you speak out against the tribe!

We are going to have to speak to the chief about this.

Theism is why we can't have nice things.

I started the day by doing the wife.  Canada Day should start with a BANG!!!!  eh?    Canucks drink a lot of beer (beir) and poutine, not me I have an allergie to beer and a doctor that tells me anything that taste good I can not have any more also no salt,  no suger, no cheese, no effing anything I use to enjoy. My Doctor is an effin'  buesybody and spoil sport.

So set off a fire cracker (up my Dr. ..........) and have a good day all around, eh?

I have heard of poutine before.  Isn't that sort of like chili cheese fries but without the meat... and without the cheese?

Yeah so Happy Canada's day, it's just the celebration of the formation of our country, and in the end the contributions Canada has given to the world. Oh and a good excuse for a day off to enjoy beer, food, friends and get some RnR.

Wait damn it, I have to drive to Ottawa (our nations capital for those that don't know) for work today, leaving in about an hour or so, well work is tomorrow but they want me there at 8 am and it's a 4 - 5 hour drive for me to Ottawa. At least I get to c the fireworks at Parliament....since my hotel is like 5 blocks away.

Hopefully it will be a fun night....that and I am bringing the GF with me so it should be even more entertaining. Laughing out loud

Happy belated Canada Day.

Happy belated Canada Day.  Thank you, Vastet, for reviving the thread.  I completely forgot about it.  I may have ...I was drunk.  You know, it's not that different from other days?  Laughing out loud
