The whole thing is a pile of crap the amount of mercury that is put in your teeth si far far far from toxic, remember with posions the devils in the dose. here is a nice article from Quackwatch about it http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mercury.html
If the mercury in Amalgam is poisonous, I should be dead. I have 13 fillings, all of them the silver sort. I had weak tooth enamel when my teeth were growing in. I have asked my dentist if I could get them changed, for aesthetic reasons (none of them are actually visible unless you are looking into my gaping maw) and she said that the white fillings actually deteriorate faster and are poblem prone. I still have my silver fillings. It's been more than ten years for some of them. Shouldn't I be poisoned by now? Should not my health be adversely affected? Obviously, this is bullshit.
Read it [the bible] because we need more Atheists and nothing will get you there faster than reading the damn bible. Elvis never did no drugs!

More conspiracy theory nonsense. Just like the one about vaccines causing autism.
I've had silver fillings for over 40 years and I have no ill effects. Well then again maybe the toxic build up caused me to lose interest in theology. Maybe the reason people consider these fillings a threat is it causes God loss?
"God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent, - it says so right here on the label. If you have a mind capable of believing all three of these divine attributes simultaneously, I have a wonderful bargain for you. No checks please. Cash and in small bills." - Robert A Heinlein.
I glanced over some article about this subject and I think it mentioned how the risk is confined to children. Probably the only concern is if the filling breaks and is consumed. Not that we'll have to worry about this since the mercury fillings have been discontinued in favor of porcelain which looks more like tooth enamel.
Even if the filling is consumed we are talking about amount of exposure. Cans of tuna and other seafood contain mercury. I'm a regular fish eater and had my mercury content examined and I'm still well below the safe exposure level. We get more exposure to mercury from coal plant emissions than anything else.
