Can information be stored on the Planck scale?

I've been reading about the Black Hole information paradox, and remember reading in a book, that Quantum information of the particles that fall into the black hole are actually stored on the Planck scale on the Hawking radiation or even horizion, or something like that.

I can't remember which book it was in so I can't look it up, but anybody read anything about this or about what happens to the information that falls into the black hole?
