except that in the right panel is, you guessed it, "christiancupid.com---meet your Christian soulmate today" ads by google, and by the way, the "chubby gay dating" was on the Atheist vs Theist forum. I don't know what google is paying you guys, but I would think about it a bit more. if the owners of this site just came out and said, "hey guys, we know this is ridiculous, but we really need the money to keep the website going" I might understand, but I think these ads are offensive.

The ads and the current setup is needed as it costs money to advertise. I am not a computer expert but I am wondering what setup you have that is allowing you to see those ads vs my setup ....  where I see no ads. Is it because I subscribe? I am not sure.

So what are your thoughts on gas prices? The economy? Any sick family members? What about the pedophile that lives 5 miles from your home (and yes, I am sure there are a few). I guess what I am saying is ---> there are plenty of things to get upset and offended by in the world other then an ad for chubby dating. EVERYONE needs love, even someone with some extra girth around their middle.

If there are pop-ups, it's from malware on your own unit. I've never had a single pop-up from the RRS site. Just the banners and google ads.

Do tell:

If not from Google Ads, whose content (frustratingly enough) cannot be controlled within very reasonable measures, what do you propose the RRS uses for revenue to curb server costs? Plenty of users can't afford to contribute via subscription / donation (like you & me), and it's not like maintaining a website like this is a cost-free affair. Google Ads are among the best forms of revenue one can find on the web (ask any successful web comic artist), and the RRS need some way of keeping their cheques from bouncing.

The ads are randomly generated based off of words that appear on the site.  The RRS, as far as I know has gone through a lot of trouble to block out a good deal of the ads that they really don't want to appear, but if they're going to advertise with Google and make money we're all going to have to live with some crappy ads.  Frankly, I don't know what your problem is, since I've not seen any of the ads you have and there are no pop-ups on the RRS.  Perhaps you have some spyware/malware or a virus on your computer?  Maybe you're using Internet Explorer?  Perhaps you should switch to Mozilla Firefox?  If none of that seem to be the case and you don't want to switch browsers I really can't think of a way to help you other than suggesting that you suck it up and ignore the gay chubby dating ad that no one else can see.  (I really want to see this ad for my own personal amusement.)  Oh, and who really cares what ads show up here?

Guaranteed that unless you are on a commercial line (T1 or greater) my connection is in fact not slow and is not by comparison to yours.  That would not affect pop ups.  You're the only one getting it for a few good reasons and you seem to have ignored the helpful advice I did give.  Perhaps your computer is fucked, in so many words.  Get spybot search and destroy, run it.  Get spywareblaster and run it.  If you really are the only one seeing these ads and experiencing pop-ups, it's obvious that your computer and not the website is the problem.  I understand that it may be frustrating and that the ads offend you (though I imagine what else does if an advertisement offends you) so perhaps trying to help yourself rather than complaining, or swearing that you've finished discussing the subject, would best serve you?  How 'bout it?

Well with the ad-ware/pop-ups, anyway.   It won't, however, help with creating a world of stress for yourself.  That's all internal.

I don't ever see it either and my connection is way faster than yours - comcast cable. Stuff downloads up to 350kbps for me quite often. I am a subscriber though. Like they said, they need the ads for money and they can only block so many of the google ads. You did say if non-moderators told you you were out of line that would change what you think. Several have now.

I just can't believe I am the only one who is seeing this stuff. maybe it has to do with my location, I have no idea. but hey, if I am out of line, I will agree with you, I just find it strange that atheists are defending Christians, they wouldn't give you the same respect. No one is disputing that there are ads by Google on here, but obviously there are people saying that I am the only one on here seeing these Jesus freak ads. Again, I have never seen these advertisements, but if it truly bothers you, on firefox download the add-on Adblock. It blocks any add that you right click on and ask it to block.
