What is the current state of the book? Has it been submitted to a publisher for first reading yet? What is the outlook for a publication date? Remember that after first reading there will be revisions, further readings, further revisions etc etc, before layout, indexing and cover art is pulled together and press time is booked. I should hope that by this stage you are deep in that process.

Another question: you mentioned somewhere that you had submitted a paper to a refereed journal but that it had been rejected. What was the nature of the rejection? Was it something that can easily be handled by a rewrite or was it more serious that that?
