thomas aquinas' 4th proof

his 4th proof says that we judge goodness and badness against a maximum? that's bogus. we judge against the mean. having the ability to judge against a maximum implies an understanding of that maximum and from there, an ability to attain it. that seems to contradict a lot of christian doctrine. i don't know about you, but when i say "oh man, he or she is a really good person," my standard of comparison isn't god, it's the other people i know.
