Mainstream News and God

Ok, I had to roll my eyes in disgust when watching the news this morning. Right after talking about the tragic death of more than 100,000 people in Myanmar they went to news about a small airplane that crashed into a woman's house. The pilot died but there was only a passing mention of that. The main focus was on the "miracle" of how the woman walked out unharmed when the entire room around her was destroyed by the plane. They said her "guardian angel" was obviously watching over her. Yes, this was the newscaster who actually credited a guardian angel for the woman's survival. And this was mainstream network news, not something like The 700 Club.

I find it interesting they report with somewhat indifference on the deaths of 100,000 people (and the pilot) but suddenly get all goofy over one woman's escape from disaster, implying her survival is evidence that God and his angels are hard at work watching over us and protecting us from harm. Nevermind the 100,000 people in Myanmar whose guardian angels were apparently on vacation the other day.

And why is mainstream news even using terms like "miracle" and "guardian angel" anyway? Leave that crap to likes of The 700 Club.
