Perhaps, but I’m cynical enough to think that the truth, and a goodly supply of tactical battlefield weapons with the trained personnel to use them might make you free. However, people don’t really want truth as such.Truth is often messy, and cold.The universe itself doesn’t care if you are good or bad, rich or poor, young or old, it will treat you with the same indifference, and you are resigned to the same fate regardless. This is truth. The lie is much more comfortable, much more pleasant and warm.The lie conforms to our own conceptions, our own prejudices, it enfolds us and makes us secure.The lie offers promises and demands only that we obey its precepts. And, if the lie becomes uncomfortable, if it no longer serves our needs, we can always shift to a new lie.The same can’t be said for truth, it remains, fixed and obstinate in the face of our desires and fears.You can’t shop around for new truth. It has been said, that a drunk is arguably happier than a sober man.This does not imply that it is better to be a drunk.Religion is the lie we drink in to make ourselves happy. Yes, the truth might make you free, but it will seldom make you happy.For that, you are on your own. LC >;-}>
