Perhaps the desire for

Perhaps the desire for political autonomy outweighs the desire for financial prosperity ?   When my so-called Anglo-American "fore fathers" broke away from British rule the consequences for them were at first quite dire, and included the very real possibility of being imprisoned or executed.  I suppose it's a matter of priorities.

When I die I want to go like my grandfather did, peaceful and in my sleep, not screaming like the passengers in his car.
