King's no atheist. He's very critical of organized religion, but he's got something of a spiritual bent that he doesn't take particularly seriously. There are just as many supernatural forces for good as for evil in his stories. He's got some damn fine yarns, though. If you want a true atheist horror writer, go for old H. bloody P. bloody Love bloody craft.
